Requirements
- 3-5 years + experience in US tax preparation with an emphasis in High Net-Worth individuals. Knowledge/understanding of UK tax a bonus
- Degree in Accounting or related field (Master’s degree a plus)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrates proactive thinking
- Possess a strong desire to learn and contribute to operational success of cross-border team work with assistance of Tax Manager/offshore team
- Coaching and development skills: experience providing tax technical feedback and review points to junior tax professionals’
- Technical skills: CCH Axcess, Sureprep, preferable, however Gosystem, Onesource, other tax software can be considered
- Research skills: Bloomberg, written tax research memos, IRS Form Instructions and Publications
Job Role
- Review US tax returns (Form 1040/104NR) to a high standard, with a good knowledge of foreign reporting/filing requirements (e.g., Forms 1116, 3520, 3520-A, 114, 8938, 8621, 5471, 5472, 8858, 8865) and Streamline Foreign Offshore Procedures
- Forms 709, 1041, 1065, 1120 knowledge a bonus (not mandatory)
- Preparer on complex tax returns requiring a high level of technical tax law knowledge and expertise
- Ensure support files clearly and accurately document all information provided by client
- Draft information request emails and communicate areas of importance for signer to review/discuss with client
- Develop and motivate junior members of the team by reviewing their work and providing them with effective feedback, coaching and guidance.
- Monitor workflow to ensure tax returns are completed efficiently, within requested time frame and to a high standard
- Communicate with onshore supervisor and/or offshore team to provide updates on work-in-house and identify any concerns regarding workflow management
